You’d have to have hunted to realize how good that last bar is. When you’re walking and trying to scare up coveys and you hear the flutter of wings you throw the shotgun to your shoulder and tag them in sky. If you hit them their feathers explode out around them like a firework

Great reaction! I saw when it hit you both the story and the tempo. I had the biggest reaction coming home one day with music up high and it really highlighted how he orchestrated it to swell with intensity and make it sound like his heart beating out of his chest after his crime of passion. He is pretty brilliant with his artistry.

OK, a few things… For “Out on a Drunk” you speak about disagreeing with him in regards to someone not being able to change their wicked ways by saying that if people really want to better themselves that they have the ability to do that. This is true and a great message to share, but I believe he’s referring to people with alcoholism or drug addiction, which is a different story, but still one that many people can relate to. Think of a werewolf, who no matter how hard he wants to remain himself and how much he fights it, when that full moon comes out…he’s screwed. Also, backslider’s wine is Bourbon. Next, when he says “there’s things I can’t change” he’s not talking about not being able to change our poor behavior and decisions, but rather talking about having to live with the horrid mistakes that we’ve made in our lives. Living with judgments people have made about you, and accepting the consequences of our actions and moving forward as best we can. I love this line because most of the time it’s the refusal to accept the things we can’t change that causes people to return to using, as they can’t cope with the damage they’ve left in their wake. Purely stating the fact that there are things we can’t change shows maturity and courage to own up to our choices, and gives hope that things can get better in the future. Alright, now Honky Tonk Flame… Honky Tonk Flame refers to his aspirations of being a famous musician. The second verse “soft on the eyes” is spoken from the perspective of the woman. The entire verse, not just the line, “I’m a woman”. She’s talking about meeting the protagonist of the song and being taken by his looks, but when he tries to take her home at the end of the night, she states she’s different than the other skirts he’s been chasing around town as well as the honky-tonk flame he’s chasing, aka his dreams. I think the songs complement each other well because the first one speaks to a struggle that many of us have inside, doing things that keep us from being all that we can. As well as the shame and/or weakness that we feel when we are making these decisions. For some reason, it seems that when we find ourselves in these moments of our lives that we tend to feel alone, like the title of the song “nobody knows you when you’re down and out” it’s funny how when we need someone the most ius when it seems that they’re the farthest away from us, leading us to a sense of hopelessness or fear that we can’t do it alone. When Tyler has put all of these things in our head and things are looking pretty dire, he kicks into the redemption portion of the medley! Right on cue. Beautifully regaling us with a song of love and redemption. He takes us from a place of fast living and confusion and negativity with the focus on the self, and leads us to a place of simplicity, companionship, love, and redemption. My favorite part of this song is that the protagonist has grown wise, realizing that the love of a woman that loves him is all that he needs, while also still being aware of his flaws. That he’s still on the road after finding the woman whose love is all he needs because he’s good for nothing except writing the songs he sings, and chasing that honky-tonk flame. I love the lightheartedness of this line, that sometimes, although it may seem foolish, we have to go after our dreams, and if we surround ourselves with the right people, they’ll support and believe in us, no matter how crazy we may seem or far away that flame might be. All of this to say, I love the video, man. You can tell you put a lot of time and effort into this channel and the passion you have for the music shines through. I don’t mean any disrespect or ill will to you in any way. I wish people could offer their opinion to like-minded people more often in a non confrontational way. Then we could learn from each other’s perspectives and experiences. Sorry about the length of this comment as well. I didn’t mean for it to go on as long as it did, but I’ve been isolated for the past few months after being in a pretty severe accident so I have a lot of time to think about important stuff, like Tyler Childress lyrics lolol. I hope it didn’t come off as combative or argumentative. I only want to offer my two cents, in hopes that it will spark conversation or contemplation. Anyway, looking forward to the next video and keep up the good work, man!

TOO BAD THE COPYRIGHT'S RESPECTED OWNERS as in the ORIGINAL COMPOSER gets listed LAST or NOT AT ALL BTW! Lawton Williams ? But Universal always lists their composers last. Withough Lawton, there would have BEEN NO SONG; LIST HIM FIRST!! I'll just bet Marlena Dietrich really loved this song! Our dad used to sing it to US , too. I alwys wondered why there wasn't a remake BY one of those German DAUGHTERS...SO I gave it a try. Bobby Helm's version was the best, in my opinion; but he really did those fiddles as if they were the "star" of the "show!!" And, it's Not "necessisarily." COUNTRY. Mr. Wilford-What people might be missing, is that Fraulein does not HAVE to be sung in a country genre; it's a beautiful melody with beautiful lyrics---and short; The Bobby Helm's version extended the song with a long introduction and a long eventful "bridge" in the middle. Some German writers (check out Soundcloud for a great variety btw) have said that we American's are mispronouncing the word " Fraulein" and, that the "real" definition of the word means "Little Lady." I enjoy reworking the Oldies but Goodies, especially because it appears that the BACK UP BANDS often FORCE the singers to sing the composer's heartfelt lyrics, extremely rapidly. In the process of sitting and "contemplating" the lyrics of such great songs, I tend to rework the lyrics to make it my own, and, as in the example of " I Fall to Pieces" by Patsy Cline, I preferred to try it "slowed down" and classical.... Be a good one for YOU to investigate btw? Sincerely, LyndaFayeSmusic@Yahoo&Bandcamp " Freulein" by an "Old German's Daughter" is on You tube, but I have to get help on my Audacity tools and make a few changes. MY intro was way too long, and that old guitar rings like a twelve stri
